Working on it!

So, after my little self-pity party last week, I have decided that it wasn't actually helpful. I'm the only one who can sort this crap out and to that end I have (for the 1st time ever) made a couple of (early) new years resolutions.

1. I will try to maintain my sense of humour. It can be a little bit weird, but deal with it!

2. I will increase my income, so that I can do a few things just for me. (I have approached the boss for a payrise already, if he doesn't come through I will start applying for new jobs).

3. I will learn to say no, even to my son, and especially my brother.

4. I will buy more pretty undies.

5. I will have more sex (See 2 and 4 above)

6. I will stop expecting perfection from myself, realise and accept that we all make mistakes, without abrogating responsibility for those mistakes.

Any suggestions?

  1. Pity parties should not be under rated.

  2. Maenad, you are correct. I feel in fact it DID help, by allowing me to start thinking more clearly, without emotion getting in the way.

On another note, If linking resolutions no's 5, 4 and 2, please be careful about the order in which you link them. For example, I will not 2 and 4 by 5.

  3. Hey, you. Just spotted your comment on my most recent blogpost, followed back as is my wont. Do we know one another in the real world, perchance? I see we share quite a few blog-buddies...

BTW: 6 is the best of your resolutions, followed closely by 5. Best of luck!

  4. Welcome Mr Flinthart,

No, it's unlikely we have ever met. The blame for our mutual buddies must go to the inestimable Mr Birmingham. I started reading, then commenting on Blunty and occasionally The Geek, stalked him to Facebook and ended up at Cheesburger Gothic.

After playing there for a little while, I was encouraged to set up my own little space in the blogosphere and have shamelessly trawled CB's blogroll to add the blogs I follow.

I have been lurking for a little while, but only took the opportunity to comment because your chooks reminded me of the great guinea pig fiasco of 2002.

Thanks for the feedback on my resolutions BTW, it's good to have another POV, but let me just say, after almost 20 years of almost total abstinence, number 5 is definitely the must have. The others are hopefully going to help me achieve it.

  5. Hello again,
I could help reading your last comment. I have done pretty much the same thing after discovering Birmo's Blunty Blog, and that's how I found you. :)

  6. Oh, I'd never argue that 5 is the must have. It's just that proper understanding and usage of 6 is likely to make 5 a much more likely outcome!

  7. Maenad: they're a fun if slightly oddball crew aren't they? Actually it's the oddball part that attracted me, as I have a somewhat screwy sense of humour myself. Not overly evident in this space as yet, but we'll get there.

Flinthart: Duly noted, and thank you. I am working on it I promise.

  8. It is useful to try everything in practice anyway and I like that here it's always possible to find something new. :)
